Scholarships

The VVAA supports the Rusty Swisher Scholarship by funding the scholarship through events during the year. It is the hope of the VVAA that the Rusty Swisher Scholarship will be funded for many years to come as a way to honor Rusty Swisher all he did as a teacher and coach at Valencia High School.

The Rusty Swisher Scholarship Fund:

Rusty Swisher served the William S. Hart School District as a special education teacher and golf coach for over thirty years, retiring in 2009. He was passionate in all that he did and relished the opportunity to extend his knowledge and wisdom to the next generation of young adults. The Rusty Swisher Scholarship Fund was created as a way to extend his legacy of inspiring and supporting young adults at Valencia High School. The scholarship fund awards students scholarships to improve the quality and accessibility of their post-secondary education. It is awarded to a senior student that has exhibited leadership and citizenship both in the classroom or on an athletic field and has maintained a 2.5 GPA while at Valencia High School. The Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Foundation accepts applicants in the spring and makes a final determination of the recipient. The recipient then receives the award at the end of the school year at Senior Award Night. It is the hope of the Rusty Swisher Scholarship Fund that the student recipient will be able to use this award as a way to further their impact and foster positive relationships in whatever avenue their pursue.
